Join us for a day of discovering your personal artistic style of calligraphy lettering with artist Harriet Mee. Modern Calligraphy has rapidly become one of the most popular forms of artistic expression. From huge works of art to smaller intricate messages on greetings cards, the applications for calligraphy are many and varied. You don’t need beautiful handwriting to be able to produce high quality modern calligraphy; the skill lies in the shapes and flow of the letters brought together to create a unique piece of art. This workshop is perfect for beginners or those looking to enhance their projects with a new skill. During the day you will learn the foundational techniques and hand positions, developing your own calligraphy style and compositions. You will have the opportunity to practise across a range of media and contexts, taking home everything you make. There will be brush pens, ink pens, brushes and metallics to practise with under the tutelage of an experienced calligraphy artist. About the artist: Harriet is a mural artist and calligrapher based in Stockton-on-Tees. Previously a teacher, she left the profession to pursue her passion for life as an artist. She loves to work on a huge scale in her work and incorporates calligraphy into her murals wherever possible. Harriet has a vast experience in teaching others the art of calligraphy, inspiring students of all abilities in pursuing their own talents with confidence. All materials, refreshments and lunch provided.
