Service Description
In this workshop you will be building and decorating your own Yunomi teacups. Yunomi are traditional Japanese teacups. Less formal than chawan, they are tall cylindrical vessels held with both hands for everyday use. The aim of this workshop is to teach you how to create yunomi vessels using the coiling technique. It will be an interesting workshop where we will look at the potential for mark-making, subtraction and abstraction of the form. At the end of the workshop you can choose two or three of your favourite vessels to be taken away, glazed and stoneware fired. This class is suitable for those who have attended or are attending the NYAS Introduction to Ceramics course or have previous hand-build experience. Beginners are welcome, too. Booking is essential as places are limited. Firing will take place after the class so you will need to arrange to collect your finished teacups the following week. Taught by Nick Robinson. All materials and refreshments included.
